With the abundant fresh summer fruit available in the summer months, I go a little nuts in the summer making all sorts of delicious fruity summer drinks including fruity mocktails.

Everyone, or mostly everyone loves fizzy drinks, and it’s even better when it’s a beautiful drink like this blueberry mojito mocktail.

I’ve always loved a good cocktail, but sometimes a mocktail is the perfect choice, especially when you want something refreshing and inclusive.

This mocktail can be enjoyed at any time and is so veratile. Its perfect for a gathering, or when you are simply enjoying a quiet evening at home.

Whatever the occasion, a well-crafted mocktail can be enjoyed by everyone, making it a great option for all ages and preferences.

So today, I’m excited to share one of my favorite recipes – the Blueberry Mojito Mocktail.

This delightful drink is bursting with fresh blueberries, mint, and a hint of lime, offering a vibrant and flavorful experience without any alcohol.

And a fizzy refreshing fruit drink like this virgin mojito is perfect on hot summer days.

The recipe starts with a dreamy blueberry simple syrup which gives the mocktail its gorgeous color and natural sweetness.

Okay I know, there is honey too for some extra sweetness.

Ingredients you need and what they bring

For the Blueberry Simple Syrup:

  • Blueberries: Fresh or frozen blueberries add their juicy, sweet-tart taste to the syrup. The best choice would be wild blueberries. 
  • Sugar: White sugar makes the syrup sweet and balances the blueberries’ tartness.Or honey. 
  • Water: The blueberries and sugar simmer in water to create the syrup’s base.

For Each Drink:

  1. Blueberry Simple Syrup: This homemade syrup gives the drink its signature blueberry flavor.
  2. Mint Leaves: Fresh mint leaves add a refreshing, aromatic touch.
  3. Lime Juice: A squeeze of fresh lime juice brightens the drink and complements the blueberry sweetness.
  4. Lemon-Lime Sparkling Water or Club Soda: The bubbly water or soda adds effervescence and lightens this virgin blueberry mojito. 
  5. Ice: Chilled ice cubes chill the mocktail and dilute the flavors for a balanced sip.
  6. Lime Wedges and Mint Sprigs for garnish: These garnishes enhance the presentation and add more flavor and aroma.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Make a blueberry simple syrup.

The blueberry mojito mocktail’s secret is the blueberry simple syrup. This syrup is made by simmering fresh blueberries with honey, or sugar and water.

Combine blueberries, honey, and mint 1/2 cup of water in a small sauce pan and let simmer for about 5-10 minutes. 

2. Let cool completely then put the blueberry mixture in a glass and add a squeeze of fresh lime juice. 

You also squeeze the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the solids if you dont want them in your drink.

Alternatively, you can put the blueberries, mint and honey or, sugar and lime wedges in a glass, a cocktail shaker or, mason jar and mush them together with a muddler or end of a wooden spoon gently to release the juices and mint aroma.  

Gently press the fresh blueberries, mint leaves, and lime wedges in a glass.

This releases the flavors and aromas, making the mocktail refreshing.

3. If using the blueberry syrup, transfer the cooled syrup into a glass.

4. Finish by adding your favorite sparkling water and stirring gently.

5. Finally, garnish with lime wedges and fresh mint for a beautiful look and taste.

Note: Add some frozen blueberries as well if you have some. They add such a fun look to the drink. 

This Blueberry Mojito Mocktail is quick to make, needing only 5 minutes to prepare. From start to finish, it takes just 10 minutes.

And is perfect for a fast, easy treat.

This recipe makes one serving but can be made for more people easily. Try adding fruits like strawberries or peaches to change the taste.

Really the subsitutions are endless. Add more honey, or sugar to your liking.

This refreshing Blueberry Mojito Mocktail combines fresh mint, lime, and a homemade blueberry syrup for a delightful and inclusive drink perfect for any occasion. Bursting with vibrant flavors and easy to make, it’s a beautiful addition to your summer drink recipes

  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 10-12 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon sugar for syrup
  • 1/2 cup water for syrup
  • 1/2 lime cut into wedges
  • Ice cubes
  • 1/4 cup blueberry syrup recipe below
  • 1 cup soda water or sparkling water
  • Extra mint leaves and blueberries for garnish
  • Blueberry Syrup:
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar/ or 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 cup water


  • Make the Blueberry Syrup:
  • In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup water.
  • Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer.
  • Simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries have broken down and the mixture has thickened.
  • Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the solids. Let the syrup cool.
  • In a tall glass or cocktail shaker, add the fresh mint leaves.
  • Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently mash the mint to release its flavor.
  • Squeeze the juice from the lime wedges into the glass. Drop the wedges in the glass after squeezing for extra flavor.
  • Fill the glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour 1/4 cup of the prepared blueberry syrup over the ice.
  • Top off the drink with soda water or sparkling water. Stir gently to combine.
  • Garnish with extra mint leaves and a few blueberries.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing Blueberry Mojito Mocktail!
  • Feel free to adjust the sweetness by adding more or less blueberry syrup to your liking. Enjoy!


Please note that you need to allow the time for cooling the simple syrup.
