Equipment

  • Small pot
  • Mesh strainer if you use loose tea leaves

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 2 black tea bags or 2 teaspoons loose-leaf black tea
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/2 orange sliced
  • 1 –2 tablespoons honey maple syrup, or sweetener of choice (optional)
  • 1 small cinnamon stick optional, for added warmth
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract optional, for a hint of sweetness

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cranberries: In a small saucepan, combine the cranberries with 1 cup of water. Simmer over medium heat until the cranberries burst and release their juice, about 5-7 minutes. Strain the liquid into a bowl and discard the solids.
  • Brew the Tea: In a medium saucepan, bring 3 cups of water to a boil. Add the black tea bags or loose leaf tea. Let steep for 3-5 minutes (depending on your preferred strength).
  • Combine Flavors: Remove the tea bags or strain out the loose leaves. Add the cranberry juice, orange slices, and cinnamon stick (if using) to the brewed tea. Simmer gently for 5 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  • Sweeten (Optional): Stir in honey or maple syrup to taste, ensuring it dissolves completely.
  • Serve: Pour the tea into mugs, garnished with a fresh orange slice or a cinnamon stick for a festive touch. Enjoy it hot, or let it cool and serve over ice for a refreshing version.
